Spinlight receives two Parents’ Choice Awards

Spinlight Studio, located at 3356 Big Pine Trail in the Pinehurst Commons subdivision, was the recent winner of two Parents’ Choice awards for it’s Operation Math, which received a “recommended seal”, and Alpha Tots, which received an “approved seal”, iOS applications.

The Parents’ Choice Award is presented by the Parents’ Choice Foundation.

Spinlight began producing apps for iOS in January of 2011. According to Spinlight partner and creative director, Matt Hutton, new apps are in the works, and several titles will be moved to the Android platform as well.

Cafe Zojo Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The Urbana Business Association will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly-opened Cafe Zojo on Thursday, May 3 at 2:00pm. Please join us in welcoming Cafe Zojo to The Pines at Stone Creek, corner of Windsor and Philo in Urbana!

Countywide Residential Electronics Collection

A countywide residential electronics recycling event will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Apollo Industrial Park in Champaign.

Champaign county residents can drop off any of the following items for free:

Televisions
Computers and Laptops
Computers Monitors
Keyboards, Mice, and Cables
Zip Drives
Printers and Scanners
VCR/DVD players
Mobile Phones
Fax machines
MP3 players
PDAs
Video Game Consoles

There is a strict limit of 10 items per resident. The drop-off locations will be at the News Gazette Distribution Center at 3202 Apollo Drive (use Olympian Drive entrance to collection).

The Illinois Marathon Returns

The Illinois Marathon returns to the Champaign-Urbana area on Saturday, April 28, 2012. The marathon will start at 7:00am near Assembly Hall. The course will travel through Urbana, parts of the U of I campus, and Champaign, before looping back to finish at the 50 yard line of Memorial Stadium.

Race participants will travel past Stone Creek Golf Course, Meadowbrook Park, Illini Grove, Champaign Country Club, Centennial Park, and other locations in town. Along the route, there will also be live entertainment.

Just blocks from the marathon route in Urbana, you’ll find The Pines at Stone Creek, which has a variety of restaurant choices for hungry spectators, including Subway, Milo’s, Cafe Zojo, Wines at the Pines, and Monical’s.

Coming in April to The Pines – Cafe Zojo

This April, The Pines will welcome it’s newest business, Cafe Zojo. Construction on the coffee shop’s suite is scheduled to be completed April 16, with the grand opening to follow on April 26.

They will be serving Intelligentsia coffee on a lovely La Marzocco, and will be rotating in guest roasters and Intelligentsia’s single-origins.
