The Junior League of Champaign-Urbana, whose headquarters are located in the Pinehurst Commons office park in Champaign, received a $10,000 donation from ACCO Brands Corp for their Junior League Locker.

From the News Gazette:

The Junior League of Champaign-Urbana’s Junior League Locker has received its largest one-time school supply donation yet: a $10,000 donation from ACCO Brands Corp.

“A donation of this magnitude will make it possible for the Junior League Locker of CU to put the basic supplies for school readiness directly into the hands of hundreds of additional area teachers, and in turn, the children of our community,” Junior League Locker chairwoman Emily Donohoe said in a news release. “We are sincerely grateful for the enormous support provide by ACCO Brands.”

Junior League Locker is a teacher supply store organized by the Junior League of Champaign-Urbana to provide free supplies to teachers in local school districts. All classroom materials are provided at no cost and are based on each school’s free and reduced lunch population.

The supplies offered vary from typical school supplies, such as pens, pencils, composition books and crayons, to more unconventional supplies, such as copy paper, tote bags and toys for classroom treasure chests.

Teachers are invited to shop once a quarter according to the school, thereby allowing them to secure materials at various times throughout the year.

During the 2012-13 school year, Junior League Locker served 451 teachers and provided about $22,000 of supplies to the Champaign and Urbana school districts.
