St. Thomas More planning land purchase from The Atkins Group

The High School of St. Thomas More is planning to buy 20 acres directly to its north from The Atkins Group.  The deal is contingent upon the Champaign City Council’s approval.  The plan is up for council approval next Tuesday.

The land is currently being used to grow soybeans and is part of a larger parcel that is being subdivided.  Ryan Bustle, principal of St. Thomas More, says the land may continue to be farm while the school decides how it will ultimately use the land.  It will allow for expansion of academic space or athletic facilities.

Mark Dixon, director of real estate for The Atkins Group, says the school will be included in The Atkins Group’s Clearview mixed-use development project, and Dixon said the school is “important not only for the development, but the community.”
